The Recreation Centers of Sun City Inc. announced its finalists in the paddle boat naming contest today.

The RCSC plans to launch its four new boats when Viewpoint Lake is filled later this month, according to a RCSC release.

Beth Lucas, communications and marketing manager for RCSC, said the new boats will replace older boats that saw more than a decade of use, as was previously reported in the Sun City Independent.

In September, RCSC invited members and card holders to enter this contest so they can “take part in a piece of history,” Lucas said.

“We thank everyone who has nominated names for our four new paddle boats, which ...were put together and prepared for use after Viewpoint Lake has filled,” she said in a release.

The final vote for the paddle boat name finalists took place on Monday at Recreation Centers, the Sun City Visitor & Welcome Center, and on the RCSC Facebook page at www.facebook.com/suncityarizona," she said. We thank everyone for taking part in a piece of history.”

The RCSC’s final four options are listed in themes or categories:

• Name after first generation of paddle boats: Minnow II, Guppy II, Serenity II, Tranquility II

• A sunny option for the four boats: Sun City Belle, Sun Chaser, Sun Cruiser, Sunshine

• Feature the experience of the lake: Relaxation, Reflection, Good Life, Lakeside Leisure

• Tribute to honor the swans of the lake: George, Cameo, Gina, Ebony

To vote, email RCSC at blucas@suncityaz.org, vote at any of our Recreation Centers, the Sun City Visitor & Welcome Center, call in votes at (623) 977-5000 or vote on our Facebook page.

The RCSC will announce the winning names on Tuesday or Wednesday, she said.
