Sun City Lions Club slates annual yard sale

YARD SALE

Posted

The Sun City Host Lions Club is holding its annual yard sale 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday and Saturday, April 23 and 24 at the Lions Club Foundation Building, 9949 N. 99th Ave.

Each year the club collects donated items from people who support the club’s many local charitable activities. Items for sale this year include indoor and patio furniture, books, records, lamps, vacuum cleaners, miscellaneous kitchen and do-it-yourself items and more.

Proceeds from the yard sale and the club’s other fundraising activities throughout the year are used to purchase eyeglasses for children and adults who can’t afford them.

The club also presents American flags to first-graders in local schools, provides free health screenings during the annual Health Fair at the Sundial Recreation Center and donates money to numerous local entities such as Sunshine Services, the Sun City Posse, Recording for the Blind, Sun City Senior Center and the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle and Angel Tree programs.

The club also supports Camp Tatiyee located near Lakeside, Arizona, which provides free summer camp experiences to children and adults with special needs. Activities at the camp include archery, robotics, dancing, fishing, science and other outdoor offerings to promote confidence, independence and emotional health.

The Sun City Host Lions Club is Sun City’s oldest Lions Club. It was chartered in 1960, the same year Sun City started. Meetings are twice a month from September until May.

New members are welcome and members of other Lions Clubs from around the world who are visiting or residing here are encouraged to affiliate with the Sun City Host Lions Club.

Call Debbie Bushey at 802-349-9749 for information about joining or affiliating with the Sun City Host Lions Club.
