The Sun City Early Bird Lions Club presented a $900 check to the Sun City Home Owners Association May 29, in a show of support for the HOA’s compliance efforts and advocacy that are cornerstone to maintaining the unique qualities of the Sun City community.
“It is truly our honor to support the work that SCHOA does for this community, and that helps us achieve our goals as a Lion’s Club as well,” said Louie Lyon, president of the Early Bird Lions Club. “Our motto is, ‘We Serve,’ and it could not be more fitting than here in the City of Volunteers. We appreciate the great work that we know SCHOA will do with this donation.”
SCHOA Board President Ed Van Ness and General Manager Lisa Gray accepted the donation and praised the Lion’s club.
“We are grateful for the support we receive from the Sun City Early Bird Lions Club,” Van Ness said. “This donation will empower SCHOA to continue the important work we do that is at the heart of protecting our community – from our age overlay to our day-to-day quality of life.”
Chartered in 1974, the Lion’s club and SCHOA have since 1963 worked in support of each other’s community efforts. SCHOA collects used and no longer needed eyeglasses for the Club, which are distributed to those in need of eyewear. Eyeglasses can be dropped off at the SCHOA office, at 10401 W. Coggins Drive.
“We are blessed to be part of a community that has been working together better than ever to support our diverse and unique needs,” Gray added. “This donation will have a big impact toward SCHOA’s ongoing efforts, as SCHOA relies largely on $25 annual voluntary household memberships, despite all single-family homes needing to comply with the deed restrictions.
