Sun City Leathercrafters win awards at state fair

Two members of the Sun City Leathercraft Club won top honors at this year’s Arizona State Fair.
Club President Larry Vroom won first place as Outstanding Contributor in Overall Leatherwork. Vroom also won a blue ribbon in the leather-crafted “Chaps” category. In addition, club member Mark Wilder currently holds the first-place ribbon in the “Purse” category.
The club meets on the upper level of Lakeview Recreation Center, 10626 W.. Thunderbird Blvd., 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday. New members are welcome. Member-made leather goods are on display and are available for purchase. All interested RCSC cardholders are encouraged to come and take a tour.
Sun City Leathercraft will be the Arts & Crafts Festival Friday and Saturday, Nov. 25-26 at the Sundial Center, 14801 N. 103rd Ave. There are also plans for an open house and workshop in January.
