The Sun City National Society Daughters of the American Revolution Agua Fria Chapter parliamentarian Kathie Mittelsteadt and chapter regent Peggy Robbins presented John and Barbara Hayes with the Daughters of the American Revolution Community Service Award certificate and medal.

NSDAR chapters are allowed to present two community service awards each year to anyone who provides volunteer community service hours.  John and Barbara Hayes serve many hours at the Peoria Fire-Medical Department and the Peoria Police Department.

They have received training in CPR and other medical equipment.  Their duties include packing and delivering more than 200 medical items to the fire stations each week and assisting in medical training for new firefighters by engaging in medical scenarios.

They drive patrol vehicles in need of service to the city maintenance shop, participate in vacation watches and complete mail delivery for the police department.

As members of the Sun City Congregational Church, they visit home-bound church members and deliver boxes of food to the West Side Food Bank. John and Barbara have provided more than 20 years of voluntary community service hours.
