The annual West Valley Genealogical Society Library open house was Oct. 27 in Youngtown, 12222 N. 111th Ave., where several different lineage society organizations were represented, including Sun City’s National Society Daughters of the American Revolution Agua Fria Chapter.
Members of the different societies have proven their lineages to ancestors who participated in various events in American history such as first settlers and colonists in New England, patriots of the American Revolutionary War or any veteran who participated in various wars such as the War of 1812, American Civil War, etc.
Visitors were able to visit each society’s representatives to discover what services they provide, what are the requirements for joining, what are the costs, where they meet and how often they meet.
WVGS membership is open to anyone interested in researching their many family lineages. Guests are welcome to attend the WVGS monthly meetings 1-3 p.m. every second Monday of the month, September-May, at Sun City First Presbyterian Church, 103rd and Alabama avenues.
Visit azwvgs.org for more information about the library or call 623-933-4945. Visit the Agua Fria Chapter website at aguafria.arizonadar.org.
