During the recent Celebration of Life ceremony, which was conducted by National Society Daughters of the American Revolution State Chaplain Twila Lobitz, Chapter Parliamentarian Kathie Mittelsteadt rang the Liberty Bell when Lobitz read the name of each of the 42 Arizona state DAR Daughters who passed away during the past year.
Chapter Daughter Mary Hart donated the replica of the Liberty Bell to the Agua Fria chapter.
In 1976, when the country was celebrating its 200th anniversary, Hart’s uncle Arthur Neave gave the bell to his wife Virginia “Lee,” who is also a DAR member.
Chapter Regent Peggy Robbins read a poem, “When I Must Leave You,” by Helen Steiner Rice, and placed a flower in a bowl for each of the four departed Agua Fria Daughters: Marion James, Ellanore McKenna, Gladys Smith and Virginia Nelson.
Lobitz was also responsible for the invocations, benedictions and table blessings for each of the 15 conference business sessions, dinners and luncheons.
Mittelsteadt completed the NSDAR members course and received her certificate and white cords.
Arizona State Regent Sarah Ziker presented Robbins with the Agua Fria Chapter Public Relations Award.
Jo Beaver Andress, Marilou Beaver Fellman, Jane Woehrle, Joanne Peters and Mittelsteadt helped with registration duties.
NSDAR Arizona Daughters attended various meetings, during one of which Robbins delivered the annual Chapter Regent’s report.
