Sun City Concert Band preps for upcoming season

The Sun City Concert Band is made up of musicians from Sun City and neighboring areas. Its conductor is Ken Jaeger, an area musician/teacher, and Charles Musgrave, the associate conductor and director emeritus and founder of the Desert Brass Band.
Rehearsals are 9-11 a.m. Tuesdays, September through April, in the music room of the Fairway Recreation Center, 10600 W. Peoria Ave. Rehearsals begin Sept. 3. The band performs a variety of musical literature including Broadway tunes, classical, jazz, marches, movie themes and current concert band literature.
The concert schedule for the 2024-25 season includes:
Fall concert - “Celebrate Good Times” - 2 p.m. Oct. 12, at the Sundial Auditorium
Veterans’ concert - “Lest We Forget” - 2 p.m. Nov. 3, at the Sun Bowl.
Christmas concert - “It’s Christmas Once Again” - 2 p.m. Dec. 7, at the Sundial Auditorium
Sousa concert - with special guest artist, Rob Verdi, Disneyland saxophonist/wind player - 2 p.m. Feb. 22, 2025 at the Sundial Auditorium
Spring concert - April 26, 2025 at the Sundial Auditorium
Club membership is open to all RCSC cardholders and invited guests. Club dues are $10 per season.
Opportunities for volunteers are available through the Concert Band Society, which supports Concert Band activities throughout the year. Contact President Sandra Wahls at 425-890-3211 for more information.
