Sun City church seeks donations for Justa Center

Posted

Lakeview United Methodist Church, 10298 W. Thunderbird Blvd., is sponsoring two on-going donation drives for the Justa Center.

Providing life-sustaining resources, services and support to assist homeless senior citizens on their path back to housing, this Phoenix-based organization will benefit from the donations of eyeglasses, small appliances and cleaning supplies.

Used eyeglasses are requested for use by the Justa clients. A box dedicated to eyeglass donations is located in Smoot Hall.

The Missions and Outreach Committee has purchased 20 electric coffee pots, toasters and small crockpots for the homeless individuals as they transition into apartments.  Cleaning supplies are also needed, such as sponges, dish cloths and towels, scrub brushes, dish and laundry detergent and quart-sized bleach containers. Also needed are scouring powders, toilet bowl cleaners and brushes, Lysol spray, and glass cleaners.

The committee plans to have 20 brooms and dustpans to donate. Boxes for items are in Smoot Hall.

Contact the church office at 623-974-5821 for more information.
