Sun City bowlers continued their support of Bowling for Veterans Link. Last year members helped raise $13,600 for veterans; this year, they helped raised $14,200. All this money stays in Arizona going to VA homes and hospitals.
BVL was founded in 1942 when several WIBC bowlers got together to raise funds to purchase a transport plane to bring wounded soldiers home from the battles of World War II. A promise was made to never forget the sacrifices of soldiers to protect and serve the United States.
Metro Phoenix USBC continues with that promise by fundraising every year to contribute to the volunteer services that coordinate recreational therapy for veterans.
The following businesses also showed support: Bell and Lakeview Lanes and staffs Sun City golf courses, Your Strike Shop, Vital Signs, Vans Golf Shop, Sun City Bowling Association, Georges Restaurant, Western Bank of Sun City, Big O Tires of Sun City, Dominic’s Bistro Italiano, Precious Paws Pet Shop, Royal Café, Utah Nails, Bien Nail & Spa LLC, Filiberto’s, Bird City Comics, Shear Blush Beauty, AZ Gentleman Barber Shop, Dosy Taco’s, Golden Turtle Gift Shop, Simply Raw Honey, Nail Project LLC, Speak Easy Bar, Bella Donna Salon of Sun City West and Massage Envy of Surprise.
The following Sun City clubs and individuals contributed: Sundial Silver Stone, Bell Stain Glass Club, Bell Metal Shop, Tina Laycock, George Bradbury, Ray Kenndy, Greg Roberts and the Bud Budjenska and his wife.
