Sun Cities 4 Paws Rescue has been awarded a $75,000 multi-year grant from the Nina Mason Pulliam Charitable Trust.
These funds will support general operating expenses, helping the organization continue its mission to rescue, care for, and find loving homes for homeless cats.
“This support from the Nina Mason Pulliam Charitable Trust means the world to us,” said Mariann Peterson, board president of Sun Cities 4 Paws. “Because of their generosity, we can keep providing food, shelter, medical care, and love to hundreds of cats every year. It allows us to stay focused on saving lives.”
The grant will be used to cover core expenses such as medical supplies, shelter operations, and other day-to-day costs that are vital to running a busy rescue. In 2024, Sun Cities 4 Paws took in nearly 1,000 cats and kittens.
Since 1996, Sun Cities 4 Paws has rescued and adopted out more than 12,000 cats and currently operates a shelter and intake/medical center in Peoria, an adoption center and a thrift boutique in Youngtown, and has various foster programs. The organization is run with the help of more than 120 volunteers who donate more than 11,000 hours of their time each year.
This gift from the Nina Mason Pulliam Charitable Trust will help ensure that Sun Cities 4 Paws can continue serving the community and saving feline lives for years to come.
