Stock: Rules are clear on assessments in Sun City

Posted

I have been reading about people wanting refunds or to pay for only when they are in Sun City. So I was pleased to read Ms. Brittingham’s letter (“Reader disagrees on refunds,” Sun City Independent, June 10, 2020).

We pay, and we do it gladly, even though we are not here year-round. We did happen to be here while the rec centers were closed. We had no desire to ask for a refund. We read the rules when we bought our home in Sun City. We knew the cost was yearly.

Maintenance costs continue whether or not people are using the facilities. The costs continue year-round, whether you are here or not. You can’t just lock the door to your house and walk away. Utility bills continue for your home even when you aren’t living in it, and with the opening of the rec centers came extra precautions. More sanitizing has to be done. Money not used during the closure probably helps defray some of those costs.

We need to look at the positives of living in Sun City and hope to keep that quality for the future.
