Starrs have strong showing at swim meet

The Sun City Starrs took first place among medium-sized clubs at the Arizona Masters Swimming State Championship Meet March 18 and 19.

Starrs is the Masters swimming division of the Sun City Swim Club. Fifteen Starrs swimmers participated in the meet at Phoenix Country Day School aquatic complex in Paradise Valley. Twenty-three teams from Arizona and surrounding states participated in the event hosted by Phoenix Swim Club. Saddlebrooke won the trophy for large teams. Starrs were fifth in overall team standings.

Three Starrs swimmers earned high point honors in their age-groups. Christa McLaren-Morris won two gold medals, four silvers and a bronze to take the women’s 55-59 year age group. Dale Wiseley won four golds and two silvers taking the men’s 70-74 year olds. Malinda Case won four events, was second in two and fourth in two events to clinch the women’s 80-84 year old group.

Leslie Nock captains the Starrs team and supervises their coaching.
