Speak Up: Sun City residents should be able to opt out of RCSC fees
Posted
When residents Scott and Lea Murphy wrote in a letter to the editor that they think homeowners should have the option to opt out of Recreation Centers of Sun City fees because they don’t use its facilities and don’t plan to use them, it struck a chord.
“Some just can’t afford these hikes. Their retirement was very little and Social Security was not increased to incur costs like this, to say nothing of utilities, insurance, gas, food. And some that rent their homes out cannot use facilities. That is outrageous. Make it a reasonable fee. If people are not allowed, then charge the tenant again. Fix it; this is not fair to anyone!” — Paula Moorefield via email
“These fees are just ridiculous! I checked out the rec center closet to me years ago. Hated it. I recently went to a bigger one, and will not be going there again. I think $650 is highway robbery! I am retired. I don’t have money like this to waste! — Sue Christensen via email
“Let the people who use the facilities pay. Those who don’t should not pay such high fees. Why can’t we reach some sort compromise? — Sam Flaster via email
