Speak Up: Sun City residents should be able to opt out of RCSC fees

Posted

When residents Scott and Lea Murphy wrote in a letter to the editor that they think homeowners should have the option to opt out of Recreation Centers of Sun City fees because they don’t use its facilities and don’t plan to use them, it struck a chord.

  • “I agree completely. I got sick every time I used the pool, so I am not going anymore.” —Monica Kruger via email
  • “I totally agree. I live in Sun City. I have never used facilities. I feel hostage to these fees. It is a giant burden each year. Then if you are late paying you have no choice but to pay whatever late fees they tack on. I am on a single income at 66 and every dollar matters. It’s so wrong and unfair to seniors that struggle to make ends meet. — Abbie McKinney via email
  • “I think it is terrible that we are forced to pat this terribly high fee. I went once to the Mountain View facility.  What a poor-looking place. The other day I went to the one over by the Dollar General. It is big, but I will never go again. I live on a very strict budget! I always wanted to live in Sun City. I guess the saying is right, ‘Be careful what you wish for.’” — Sue Christiansen via email
  • “Sun City West Needs opt out also.” — Darriel Fisher via email
