Sol Flower scheduled wellness classes in Sun City

Sol Flower of Sun City officials invite the community to learn how to stay healthy in mind, body and spirit by attending one of their free health and wellness classes in the new year.

February class highlights include new “Learn How to Paint Like the Masters” classes and four “Cannabis for Seniors” classes with Jane Fix, Sol Flower director of patient education.

Sol Flower, 13650 N. 99th Ave., is a mixed-use dispensary complex with adjoining cafe and classroom. The Sol Flower classroom is open to the public and offers wellness courses covering a full spectrum of health care topics. Most classes are free, unless otherwise noted. “Cannabis for Seniors” is scheduled 4 p.m. Monday, Feb. 3; 1 p.m. Tursday, Feb. 13; 2 p.m. Monday Feb. 17 and Wednesday, Feb. 26. This is a free class.

Learn tips on how to start using medical cannabis, methods of consumption, dosing and how to measure medication. The course offers a question and answer session with a senior patient specialist and provides information specific to senior health care topics. The instructor is Jane Fix, Sol Flower patient education director.

“Painting Van Gogh” (with online signup) is 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5 and the cost is $35, with all materials included and provided.

This creative and meditative class includes a brief history of the painting styles, artists and masterpieces from different periods and art movements. Receive demonstrations and hands on training in the painting techniques of the masters as participants recreate a masterpiece of their own.

“Cannabis for Neurological conditions: MS, Parkinson’s, ALS” is 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 10, Friday, Feb. 21 and Monday, Feb. 24. This is a free class.

“CBD and Sound” is 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15. This is a free class.

Participants will be invited to experience CBD, the non-psychoactive hemp derived cannabinoid via sound or sublingual drops while gathered in the classroom. There is no charge for samples used as part of the study and students can elect to observe rather than participate. As a group, the class will address issues commonly sought by those using CBD for pain and/or tension. The instructor is Sandra Hickman, Healing Intention Community’s Blu Bliss CBD Dispensary owner.

“Painting Cezanne” (with online signup) is 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19 with a cost of $35 and all materials included and provided.
