Single Only Sisters (SOS), a women’s group at First Baptist Church, will host members of the church’s Page Turners Book Talk 2 p.m. Thursday, May 12, as they present “The Quilters — Faith and Hope on the Prairie,” a Readers Theater performance.

Readers Theatre involves no set pieces, no props, no costumes, and relies on the speaker’s voices to tell the story. Caroll Swinney, leader of the Page Turners group, indicated that at a recent meeting group members discussed the art of readers theater and how any piece of literature can be turned into a simple presentation using the “choral voice.”

“The Quilters — Faith and Hope on the Prairie” is composed of selections from various diaries, novels, devotions and plays. It tells the story of women who crossed the prairies and how they relied on God’s grace during the adventure.

Following the presentation, SOS members will be divided into small groups and given a parable from the Bible to turn into their own presentation for sharing in the large group. To finish the program, the entire group will present a piece entitled “God Does Understand.”

“Page Turners is thrilled with the opportunity to share and hopes to encourage all attending to embrace the idea that ‘theater is everywhere,’” stated Swinney.

All single ladies (widowed, divorced, single) are invited to attend. First Baptist Church is located at 17419 N. Conquistador Drive.
