Whether coronavirus continues or not, Sun City Home Owners Association officials will conduct an election for board members later this year.
The SCHOA board has four expiring seats this year. Those are now held by Jim Hunter, Joseph Janos, Ritchie Miller and Rick Gray. Mr. Hunter is in his second year as board president.
SCHOA officials are accepting candidate applications for the election, usually conducted in November. Applications will be available at the SCHOA office, 10401 W. Coggins Drive, beginning July 1, according to Gail Warmath, SCHOA Elections Committee chairwoman.
“Have you thought about giving a little something back to our wonderful community, working with a great group of people and finding satisfaction in keeping Sun City a special place to live?” she stated in an email. “If so, consider serving on the board of directors for SCHOA.”
Of the four expiring positions, three are three-year terms and one is a one-year term. Those elected will begin their terms Jan. 1, 2021, Ms. Warmath explained.
To be an eligible candidate, applicants must be a deeded real estate owner in Sun City, be a member in good standing of SCHOA and be able to serve a three-year term. There will be candidate orientation and events where the candidates will be able to meet other Sun City residents, Ms. Warmath explained.
She added serving board members can be available to discuss board service for those who want more information.
Call the SCHOA office at 623-974-4718.
