The Rhythm Ramblers, Sun City’s original big band and first chartered club, will hold auditions in January for open positions in the band. Applicants must be Recreation Centers of Sun City cardholders and have the music skills needed to play big band music.
Proficiency on an instrument is important.
“I also need excellent sight-readers,” said Music Director Bryan Altherr. “We’ll rehearse a new chart just three or four times before we perform it at one of our monthly dances.”
In a typical season, the band will play 150 different songs.
Rehearsals and performances are Tuesdays beginning in September and breaking for summer in April. Openings currently exist in all sections of the band. Interested cardholders may contact Bryan Altherr at 602-717-7246.
