Relay for Life of the Sun Cities returns for 11th year

Relay for Life of the Sun Cities is 3-7:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 19, at Beardsley Park, 12755 Beardsley Road. The charity event honors survivors, helps raise funds for cancer research and survivor support and recognizes those lost to and those fighting cancer.

The opening ceremony with the survivor lap around Beardsley Park begins at 4 p.m., followed by entertainment, raffles, items for sale and a mini car display by the Automotive Restoration Club.

A moving luminaria display will take place around 6:30 p.m. with 400-500 lit luminaria surrounding the park. Walk-ins are welcome or register at relayforife.org/suncitiesaz; individuals must register online to have a survivor shirt mailed to them. Luminaria may be purchased at the event.

Sponsors include Peoria Nissan, Parks & Sons, Sun Canyon Bank, Sardella’s Pizza & Wings and partners The Sun City West Foundation, Bob’s Variety-Sun City West, Home Instead of Surprise, Carrie’s Healing Café and the Sun City West Recreation Center.
