Reader shares her choice for RCSC’s new general manager

Posted

To justify his tariffs, Donald Trump has said “tension is a good thing.” I, for one, am not enjoying the tension created by the higher cost of living we are all enduring.

I feed one person and one cat. We are both consumers, but not extravagantly so. I am concerned that Elon Musk and DOGE are going to limit or eliminate the Social Security that so many of us depend upon.

Did we pay into Social Security and Medicare all our working years only to learn that we are broke? I daresay that 90% of us are not capable of living a homeless existence.

The rise in cost of living is reflected in the Recreation Centers of Sun City’s dramatic and unprecedented raise in our annual assessments these past few years, with more coming. True, we experienced no increases for many years prior, but we paid in terms of a crumbling infrastructure that has been arrested, but also exploited by expensive and, in my opinion, unnecessary “improvements” such as Fairway’s new welcome desk.

Where am I going with this? To my suggestion for RCSC’s new general manager.

Mike Wiprud has been RCSC’s facilities senior leader, i.e. facilities director/manager/coordinator, over the past five years that I have been familiar with him.

I have always found him to be a cut above. He led the Viewpoint Lake rehabilitation project and saw it through to fruition. Because of his leadership and team, Sun City has its signature lake back! This is not to sell the engineers and staff of Pacific Aquascape short; they did an incredible job!

I think Mike should become RCSC’s new general manager. I pray the board looks closely and well at him to lend similar excellence to the job.
