While many recent letters to the editor have been about the autism school, our country is suffering an onslaught of our rights as Americans, and most here in Sun City West, Sun City, Grand, etc. don’t notice, don’t care or don’t have the full story.
The riots in Los Angeles were confined to three city blocks; the authorities in California could easily handle this. However, in violation of our Constitution, the president sent National Guard troops and Marines to the site of the riots. It is stated clearly in the Constitution that the military will not be used against the civilian population of this country!
The peaceful protest that turned into a riot was brought about by the fact ICE was nabbing people outside of courthouses as they showed up for or had finished an immigration hearing.
These are people trying to do the right thing, they had jobs and were paying taxes, no criminal offenses, many have young children in school; yet they were arrested by ICE, sent to jails or detention centers and even overseas with no due process. The Constitution is clear on this as well, in that anyone on U.S. soil has the right to due process; it doesn't state citizens, it is anyone and everyone.
I beg of you as citizens of the United States of America to try to look at other sources of news rather than tuning exclusively into Fox and other conservative media. The days of Walter Cronkite are long gone and the truth is often muddled or obfuscated; but if one views a variety of national news sources, one can see a bigger picture of the world as it is.
Conservative news outlets are not telling you the complete truth; they are showing you only what the current administration wants you to see and believe.
