The future is coming, and Recreation Centers of Sun City officials are ensuring they are prepared to maintain favorite activities as they also look ahead to new opportunities as part of a study with Arizona State University.

Results of the first step of an ongoing research project with ASU were released this month, and are available for members to review at suncityaz.org under the “RCSC” tab, or directly by copying and pasting the following URL into a browser, https://suncityaz.org/rcsc/asu-survey-results-community-involvement-opportunities/).

The community-wide survey offers a detailed review of the priorities and the interests of residents. It also showcases the unique values that makes Sun City special. In one example, 78% of men and 75% of women surveyed said they felt a strong sense of community and the majority of those surveyed rated highly the variety of activities available to members.

“Sun City has a long history of leading the way in planning a premier retirement community that offers the very best in quality of life,” said Bill Cook, RCSC general manager. “We are reviewing the results of the member survey to ensure we maintain that high standard for everyone as we plan ahead for the future.”

Residents reviewed in the survey preferences in technology, communications, clubs, activities, among other topics related to the advantages of living in a community featuring eight recreation centers.

A followup working group allowed residents to engage further with specific ideas regarding technology, vision, marketing and future goals. That report is also available on the RCSC website.

RCSC officials will have more work to come in partnership with ASU.

“We loved how engaged RCSC members were during the working groups,” Cook said. “Thank you to everyone who has taken part.”

Watch for updates at suncityaz.org as the process moves forward.
