In my opinion there’s one word that sums up the Recreation Centers of Sun City annual membership meeting March 11: Despicable.
A quorum of 1,745 residents attended. It started with the board president reminding residents to be respectful.
He then spent 20 minutes reading a prepared statement which included the mention of a lawsuit, lots of legal mumbo jumbo and excuses. At the end of the statement, he rapped the gavel and announced, “adjourned.”
There was no motion or second for adjournment. More importantly, there was no agenda, financial report, old or new business.
There were approximately 60 people who were given three minutes each to address their concerns. One resident asked the hourly rate for our legal counsel; the answer was that “it doesn’t matter, as we will get the money back when we win the lawsuit.”
Another resident asked the salary of the general manager. The RCSC president’s answer was that his salary is confidential.
As residents who pay annual fees, Arizona law states that we have a right to the answers to these questions.
