RCSC member waiting for answer on petition

Posted

Today is March 19, 2025. It has been a week since the Recreation Centers of Sun City Annual Membership Meeting was held at Sundial Auditorium.

It has been a week since 1,700 RCSC members — “triple the 500 needed for a quorum” — packed the auditorium at “their” meeting, the only meeting of the calendar year that members were under the assumption they could vote at. You know, the meeting that went from having an agenda that might have introduced motions to the bylaws — as the board had previously asked for — to an agenda with lawyer-speak words that the board stood behind.

It has been a week since an “unofficial” petition asking the board to do its due diligence, assess the performance of the general manager and ask for his resignation based on some unsatisfactory and unacceptable behavior, was submitted to them. While the members who signed the petition had been informed that all we — the members of the community — could do was ask the board to do our bidding, we would have liked to have been acknowledged.

It has been a week — and not one word from the board; the same board where five directors had been elected by less than the numbers of petition-signers.

It has been a week. Don’t the members of this community deserve an answer?
