I have lived in Sun City since 2020 and managed to purchase my dwelling in 2021. It seems now that every year brings increases to the annual Recreation Centers of Sun City assessment fees and to other associated activities.
For many of the crafting portions of the RCSC, there is an additional entry fee to be paid aside from the cost of supplies and such. One would think that given the amount of the yearly assessment, no other fees would be necessary. I believe that is known in other circles as “double-dipping.”
For those retired residents who live on a very tightly fixed income, these increases are more than difficult to bear. An opt-out of these fees for those who have no need for the services offered would go far in easing the burden of the ever-rising cost of living in general.
The repeated response, “If you don’t like it, why don’t you move out?” is simply childish. I really don’t think that Mr. Webb had planned for Sun City to evolve into a retirement community only affordable to those with high-dollar retirement benefits.
The time has come for an opt-out clause to become an option.
