Patricia Margaret Sewalk

Posted

Patricia was born in 1937 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Christopher and Teresa Appel. She was a devout Catholic. In her daily rosary prayers, she prayed for her family and for those who asked to be included in her prayers.

As a beautiful nineteen year-old, she met her husband to be, John, in the Pittsburgh Federal Office Building. She worked as a secretary in the IRS office. He worked for the Army Corps of Engineers during his summer break from his university studies. They met at the coffee machine on her floor. They married on February 2, 1958. They raised three children: Karen, David and Laura. Her German and French heritage instilled in them a strong work ethic and love. Her love of the beautiful French language inspired her studies with the Sun City Grand Language Club. Her teachers and student friends were a joy to her.

She is survived by her husband, John; daughter, Karen (Dan); son, David (Laura); daughter, Laura (Brett); and grandchildren: Patrick, Cameron, Bailey, Annica and Mollyann.

A memorial mass is being planned for at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church on Saturday, January 18th at 1:30 P.M.. Burial will take place at a later date in the Phoenix National Memorial Cemetery beside her husband. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Prince of Peace Catholic Church or the American Cancer Society.
