Estrella Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, is off to a great start in 2023.
The Chapter welcomed five new DAR members and four DAR members transferring from other chapters at their member meeting Jan. 12. Four of the new members are from one family: Maryann King and her three daughters, Erin Sandmann and, via ZOOM, Katherine Scott and Sharon Kilbridge. The fifth new member is Stephanie Munyon. Maryann’s husband, Bob, and Stephanie’s sister, Valerie, who is a member of a Prescott DAR chapter, were present to witness this important event in their lives.
Registrar Deborah Rauch worked for several months assisting four of the new members to identify their patriot and to prepare their applications to submit to the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution approval.
The induction ceremony was followed by the business meeting and a social hour that featured game playing along with finger foods.
Daughters of the American Revolution Society was founded in 1890 with the mission of promoting historic preservation, education and patriotism and these timeless overarching principles keep the DAR and its chapters strong and vitally relevant in this ever-changing world. Women descendants of persons who served or aided the cause of the Revolution are eligible to join.
