Northwest Valley Democrats announce summer recess

Posted

The May 14 meeting of the Northwest Valley Democrats marked the end of the spring 2025 schedule, as the club will resume monthly meetings on the second Wednesday of the month in September.

The May meeting featured Kori McClemens, Phoenix area representative of Arizona List, as the guest speaker. She spoke about the mission and goals of Arizona List, an organization dedicated to the election of progressive, pro-choice women into political offices across the state.

Arizona List works to identify races where a pro-choice Democratic woman can most likely win and then recruits qualified women to run. McClemens said that more than 100 women candidates were endorsed and supported by Arizona List during the last election, with many of them being elected into office.

She also provided an update on Arizona List’s efforts to affect pro-choice laws in Arizona and urged residents to be involved in efforts to reach and influence our elected officials.

Before ending the meeting, President Maria Bears reminded members of the club’s June, July and August cocktail hour, 5 p.m. on the second Wednesday of the month at State 48 Brewery, 13823 W. Bell Road. She said that any notices or changes would be posted at northwestvalleydemocrat.com.

Bears said she was looking forward to seeing all members on Wednesday, Sept. 10, as the club will be preparing for the next election cycle.
