Nobuo Matsuda

Posted

Nobuo Matsuda, 97, a long-time Sun City resident, died peacefully in Massachusetts on August 25, 2024 a day before his 98th birthday. Born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, the youngest of six children, he was proud of his military service, first in active duty during the Korean War and then as a life-long Army reservist where he reached the rank of Colonel. He was married 3 times, the last to Rosa Nell Matsuda for 38 years. Nobuo and Nell lived in Sun City for 25 years before they moved to live with family in San Antonio, TX, where Nell died. Nobuo eventually moved to assisted living in Massachusetts where two of his children live. His final words were, “I’ve lived a long and interesting life.” An understatement for sure.
He is survived by his children Pamela Matsuda-Dunn; her husband, Lauren Dunn; and their daughter, Reiko Matsuda-Dunn; Beth Matsuda; and Guy Matsuda and his spouse, Philip Allessio, as well as many nieces and nephews, including two nephews-in-law and their wives, Danny and Diane Tackett and Peter and Linda Plank.
He and Nell Matsuda will be interred side by side at the National Cemetery of the Pacific on November 1, 2024 at 2pm.
