The Sun City Posse held its monthly general meeting Feb. 4, as an opportunity for residents to gain better understanding of how the Posse and the community work together.

MCSO Capt. Brian Stutsman administered the oath of office to four new Posse members: Mark Dauberman, Lisa Maestas, Randy Mapes and Bret Thompson, who have completed their training and will be added to the patrol officer roster.

This meeting also featured a presentation on fall recovery and prevention. Dr. Lindsey Cambra PT, DPT, from FYZICAL Therapy and Balance Center of Sun City, discussed fall prevention techniques and illustrated maneuvers for getting up once someone has fallen. The information included a discussion on how and why physical therapy can help in total recovery, how to fall-proof a home and steps to take immediately following a fall. Cambra provided answers to many questions from the audience.

There was then a special recognition for Arlene Kluizenaar, who celebrates five-years of Posse service. Kluizenaar joined the Posse in 2020 and has served in a variety of duties including patrol and training instructor for CPR certification. She is a member of the board and now serves in capacity of executive officer, second to the commander.

Another Posse member, Betsy Bartusch, was recognized for completing duty officer training and was promoted to that position. Her husband was on hand for the pinning ceremony and to celebrate this accomplishment.
