Model: People should be part of the solution in Sun City

I am writing in response to Pat Ibarra’s letter (“There should be some enforcement,” Sun City Independent, June 10, 2020) on the homeless.
Instead of asking for police enforcement, why aren’t you asking how you can be part of the solution? Do you realize that the closest shelter is more than 13.5 miles from Sun City? With the growing population and the pandemic why isn’t there a shelter and resources near Sun City?
There are no rehab treatment services for alcohol and drug addiction, or help with mental illness. When services are not part of the solution then stealing and crime will continue.
If you are upset about the trash, request trash cans to be placed at the bus stops and for them to be emptied on a regular basis.
