Merritt: People need to understand the menace in Sun City

This letter is in response to an email I received from Recreation Centers of Sun City officials this morning that stated some Sun City residents are unhappy that the recreation centers and most amenities are closed due to the coronavirus.
I am so sorry some of our residents are not happy about the measures being taken by the RCSC management and board to comply with the Centers of Disease Control, the state of Arizona and others. I am having a hard time believing that some of our residents are not taking the pandemic seriously.
I am also upset that these residents are taking their displeasures out on the RCSC staff. I know the staff at RCSC is working hard to keep us safe and deserve to be treated with respect. I find it ludicrous that it has become necessary to close off the parking lots and have special security at RCSC facilities because of these people.
They may be vocal but hopefully are in the minority.
My husband and I are thankful that RCSC officials are doing everything they can to keep Sun City as safe as possible and are taking measures to limit the spread of the coronavirus.
