Meisinger: Dog club forgotten by RCSC in Sun City

Posted

I read your article about the Best Friends Dog Club (“Best Friends want indoor facility for dog training,” Sun City Independent, April 20, 2022).

I was a member for many years, until COVID. When the dog facility was on the west side of Fairway Center there was air there and trees. Then they rebuilt the rec center, and totally forgot about the dog club. As an afterthought, they stuck us in the postage-size piece of grass on the east side of the building.

There we look directly into the sunlight and cook when there’s no breeze around or actually freeze when it gets colder with the awning above us protecting us from the spring/summer sun. The situation there is terrible. If you ever went there to watch the classes you’d see that the sun is right in your face.

I believe that the only “club” that is important to the board is golf because that brings in money. The rest of the clubs are simply not important enough to give a second thought to.

Thanks for letting me sound off!
