Artists by the Lake will hold its third annual Fine Art Show and Sale 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Feb. 22 and 23, at the Lakeview Center, 10626 W. Thunderbird Blvd., on the second floor in all the Social Halls. The show is free to attend.
Local artist Florine Duffield has donated her work as part of the show’s raffle.
Duffield moved to Sun City in 1999, where she shared a love of painting with her father. Her work, themed “Arizona Images,” is on permanent display at the Fairway Recreation Center, consisting of paintings and photography inspired by her travels across the state.
Her expertise spans photography and oil painting, often using high-quality photographs as references. Her formal education includes studies at Queens College, New York University, the Elkins Institute, the Arvon Foundation in England and the Scottsdale Artists School. She also teaches art workshops in various venues.
Duffield’s career highlights include earning a degree in photography, living in New York City and fulfilling her childhood dream of living in England. While in England, Duffield joined a London gallery and traveled the UK for shows. Her passion also includes teaching art workshops, becoming a contributing author on Amazon and painting with international artists near Barcelona
This year, Artists by the Lake will also include a gift shop during the show. The shop will have small items club members created for sale. Artists will be available throughout the show to answer questions and help with art purchase. There will be two artist demonstrations daily and a “Peoples’ Choice” award will be given at the end of the show based on visitor votes.
Artists by the Lake classes are now forming in drawing, pastel, acrylic and oil. All levels are welcome, from beginners to advanced. Individuals must have a valid RCSC card and a check for $10 for enjoy.
