Lifelong Learning Club readies for spring term in Sun City

Posted

More than 250 members of the Recreation Centers of Sun City’s Lifelong Learning Club met Jan. 14 at the Fairway Recreation Center to choose their classes for the spring term, which begins Feb. 3. The annual membership fee of $20 entitles learners to elect 10 classes per semester for two semesters per calendar year.

Retiring president Michael Powell explained a new system for course registration, which welcomed tally and data entry by table. He asked Keith Orr, a monitor for the club, to explain the monitoring process under the supervision of Ashley Hibbard.

Powell also asked Pat Tonnema to discuss field trip options. The anticipated field trip to the Phoenix Zoo March 21 is still open to participants.

Powell will offer a class on “Water: An Essential Sacred Elemental for Life” Feb. 27.

Newly elected president and past vice president Mary Jo Tietge thanked the volunteers and said she hoped people who had careers in education and/or technology know their skills are needed and welcomed in Lifelong Learning. She thanked the members for their trust.

Lifelong Learning is an educational organization composed of volunteers whose mission is to provide RCSC members with educational programs, courses and lectures at low cost. Lifelong Learning has been a chartered RCSC club for 16 years. Email scaz@lifelong@gmail.com for more information.
