Lakes East Niners honor Newell for 80 years of golf

Posted

Sally Newell, 92, was honored at the Lakes East Niners spring luncheon for 80 years of golfing excellence.

Twenty one of those years have been with the Lady Niners. Barb Dockham presented her with her trophy.

Newell grew up in a family of golfers and began learning the game at an early age. She recalls the lessons learned from her supportive father, a teaching pro at the Wigwam Resort.

She enjoys playing golf with the Niners on Tuesdays and any other day of the week, and can be seen walking the nine-hole course with a pull cart and bag of clubs.
