Volunteers recently welcomed 124 golfers who played in the annual Knights of Columbus Charity Golf Tournament at the Deer Valley Golf Course.
Kicking things off was a putting and sand blast competition. Grilled hotdogs and chips followed, getting golfers energized to take on the many on-course challenges that awaited them.
After a round, golfers and their guests next dined on a catered Italian-themed dinner at the Prince of Peace Parish Hall, where winning teams and players were awarded prizes. Then came time to draw the winning raffle tickets for more than $9,000 in prizes. The 10 free rounds of golf for four at premier Valley golf destinations were a hit. Other prizes included Family Fun, Dining Out, and Let’s Go Shopping prizes, each valued at more than $600. Door prizes also were won by many.
The Knights expressed their thanks to the golfers, guests and volunteers as well as the event’s sponsors. This year’s tournament will benefit many local charities, including St. Vincent de Paul, St. Mary’s Food Bank, Special Olympics, Helping Hands and local pregnancy crisis centers.
Next year’s tournament will be April 11, again at Deer Valley GC.
