Junso: Sun City woodworkers find way to return bowl

Posted

I want to share the kindness shown to me by the Bell Center Woodworking Club.

In early summer I left a beautiful black walnut round oval bowl at the woodworking shop to re-glue a piece that had fallen out. After returning in July, I went to pick up the bowl But it was nowhere to be found. It was an especially nice piece of walnut. All the workers at the club had seen it on the shelf.

One of the ladies apologized for the bowl’s disappearance. Betsi wrote a big note saying, “If you have this bowl please return it — the lady wants her bowl back.” Some time later, I checked to see if it had been returned. It hadn’t. So she wrote another note. By this time, all the workers were aware of the missing bowl. I rechecked again and it had not been returned, much to the dismay of the workers.

The past Tuesday (Sept. 24) I got a message that they had a bowl for me. I assumed the bowl had been returned. Upon going in again, I was overwhelmed to find out Mike Will, the club vice president, had made an identical bowl for me. Betsi had Furnished the wood.

They had “righted” someone’s wrong. Isn’t that a great story?

Someone’s conscious should be eating at them!

I am so grateful to Mike and Betsi for the new bowl. On top of that, Betsi saw that I was walking with a cane. She took me by the arm and walked me to my car. I am so appreciative to these two people that thanks isn’t enough.
