Invenergy, an American-led renewable energy company, hosted an event Dec. 14 at the El Sol Battery Energy Center, 11500 W. Invenergy Way, Youngtown, to recognize the Sun City Fire Department and celebrate the project’s progress.
Invenergy Developer Paul Burman presented Sun City Acting Fire Chief Rob Schmitz with a donation to support the department’s fire, medical and emergency services. Speakers included Schmitz, state Senator Frank Carroll and Youngtown Mayor Michael LeVault.
“Invenergy has been dedicated to working with the community to develop an innovative project that helps to keep the lights on and prioritizes community safety,” said Invenergy Director of Renewable Development Paul Burman. “We look forward to seeing this project in operation, and remain committed to innovative, affordable and safe energy solutions in Arizona.”
El Sol has been under construction since earlier this year and the event aligned with the delivery and installation of the batteries themselves.
“It is great to see a private sector driven energy storage project that increases our community’s access to safe, reliable, affordable electricity in our community,” said Senator Frank Carroll.
