Hunter: City of Volunteers? Proud to be one in Sun City

Posted

As Sun City Home Owners Association Board of Directors president, it has been my pleasure to have the opportunity to meet so many wonderful people who give some of their time to the betterment of our community.

On a monthly basis the leaders of several volunteer organizations in Sun City meet informally to discuss issues of mutual interest in our community, and we always find ways to support each other and our organizations to the benefit of all Sun Citians. This short piece is to salute those volunteers and what they do for all of us.

This month saw the Posse commander and the president or representative of the boards of Recreation Centers of Sun City, Del Webb Sun Cities Museum/Historical Society, SCHOA Foundation, Sun City Community Assistance Network, Sun City PRIDES, Sunshine Services, the Sun City Condo Owners Association and SCHOA together.  Each of these organizations is led by volunteers. How remarkable!

Consider the services provided to us by these organizations.

RCSC provides recreational opportunities that are the envy of the country. The amenities we enjoy help make Sun City the number one retirement value in the country.

The Del Webb Sun Cities Museum showcases our history as the community that quite literally changed the country and defined active retirement. I strongly recommend that if you have never toured or have not visited the museum in the last few years, go see it. The tour is more than worthwhile.

The SCHOA Foundation provides funding for helping keep our community clean and desirable, including the painting of the “common” walls.

CAN offers a multitude of programs to assist residents who need a little extra help from time to time, including free tax preparation this time of year.

PRIDES members, all volunteers in their orange vests, in cooperation with Maricopa County, keep our streets, parkways and medians neat and clean.

Sunshine Services provides residents of our community with durable medical equipment quickly and at no cost, an incredible resource.

The Sun City Condo Association is a resource to all 384 individual condo associations in Sun City, with timely workshops, training and information.

Finally, SCHOA continues its’ efforts to protect our property and community values, and to be an advocate for all home and condo owners in matters of utility rates and government affairs.

Bravo! I am proud to be a volunteer in a community that places high value on volunteers, and I salute all of you who make the time to give a little back to the benefit of us all.

Please consider joining us in our efforts to keep Sun City the incredible community we enjoy each day. I can be reached at SCHOAPresident@suncityhoa.org.
