Grant: Sun City resident concerned about growing area issues

I am writing to express my concern regarding the growing crime, panhandlers and homeless in Sun City.
I, like many seniors, moved here planning to live out my life here in a safe, happy, age-restricted environment. Instead, now I am seeing the crime rates increase, less law enforcement on our streets, panhandlers of all ages on our streets begging for money, homeless people showering via hoses on private property or patios.
This is not the type of community I bought into.
I have read the letters in the Independent voicing many concerns from others feeling the same as I do. I am aware this is a very complicated situation, but surely if the caring residents of Sun City work together and make our voices heard we can find a way to remedy this growing problem before it destroys our retirement community. Let’s make a plan and work to achieve this goal.
