Benevilla is participating in the sixth-annual GIVE65 Event, presented by Home Instead Charities, to raise funds for their Home Services program.

This program helps West Valley older adults and adults with disabilities remain independent and living in their homes for as long as possible by providing free volunteer assisted services such as grocery shopping, assisted transportation to medical appointments, phone pals and more. Services are available short- or long-term to those with limited resources and options.

The GIVE65 event is a 65-hour online fundraising occasion to help nonprofit organizations serving seniors raise funds online and increase awareness. This year, the event begins at 6 a.m. July 13 and runs through 11 p.m. July 15.

Benevilla is eligible for up to $5,000 in matching grants. An additional $10,000 in financial rewards is available to the agency raising the most money or has the most unique donors to inspire giving on a greater level.

Call 623-584-4999 for information or visit give65.org/Benevilla.

Support for the Benevilla Home Services program helps many in the community, like Ronnie, who needs extra support and companionship. Ronnie lives with his son but is alone much of the day.

After suffering a stroke a few years ago and becoming homebound, his options are limited, and he gets very lonely during the day.

In addition to proving assisted transportation to his medical appointments, one of the Benevilla volunteers agreed to be a phone pal for Ronnie. The volunteer calls Ronnie a few times a week just to check in and chat.

Ronnie states that just hearing from his Benevilla volunteer has helped to relieve his loneliness and gives him something to look forward to during the week.
