“Understanding Dementia — A Challenging Journey” is the topic of a special Hospice of the Valley community presentation 9 a.m.-noon Monday, Jan. 27, at Lord of the Life Church, 13724 W. Meeker Blvd., Sun City West.

Registration begins 8:30 a.m.

Participants will understand dementia and how it progresses from early to advanced stages; develop strategies for making — and maintaining — meaningful connections with the person with dementia; and value the caregiver role and explore ways to reduce stress.

Leading the presentation is Maribeth Gallagher, who directs Hospice of the Valley’s Dementia Program, recognized nationally and internationally for its approaches to dementia care.

A continental breakfast will be provided.

RSVP by Thursday, Jan. 23 at 602-636-5396 or email events2@hov.org.
