When the Phoenix Suns fired Coach Monty Williams a few years, and a few head coaches ago, I wrote that in my experience watching pro sports for the past half century teams who fire a coach because they “can’t win the big ones” typically end up hiring coaches who can’t even win the little ones.
The Suns, unfortunately, proved me right again with the firing of Mike Budenholzer. And this is one of those cases where I’d rather be wrong.
