The Del Webb Sun Cities Museum will premiere its second “History Makers” video presentation 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19 at the Olive Branch Senior Center, 13049 N. 103rd Ave., Sun City.
The video presentation will feature an interview with Ed Allen, former president of the Sun Cities Area Historical Society and editor of “Sun City West Silver Celebration,” the history of Sun City West published in conjunction with the community’s 25th anniversary.
The program is free and open to the public.
The History Makers video project was launched earlier this year and made possible from a grant provided by the Del Webb Foundation. When complete, the project will include five video interviews of “history makers” who played key roles in the history of the Sun Cities.
The interview with Allen includes his recollections of the start of the Sun Cities Area Historical Society and how it came to own the first model home ever constructed in Sun City, which now serves as the home to the Del Webb Sun Cities Museum.
Allen describes changes to the building over the years, and how the museum has grown from initially serving as the SCAHS headquarters to what it is today: a public museum showcasing the history of the Sun Cities.
The first History Makers video featured an interview with Don Tuffs, former president of the museum and the first general manager of the Sundome Center for Performing Arts. Unveiled last spring, the video features Tuffs telling the story of the Sundome and sharing interesting tidbits of the many celebrities who performed there.
The third video features Wally Britton, a construction manager for the Del Webb Development Corporation in Sun City during the 1960s.
The first three History Makers videos can be viewed at the museum and on the museum’s You Tube channel. The museum is located at 10801 W. Oakmont Drive, Sun City.
The fourth and fifth videos will feature interviews with Jerry Svendsen, public relations manager for the Del Webb Development Corporation during the community’s first decade.
