The Sun City Agua Fria National Society Daughters of the American Revolution Chapter purchased a POW-MIA flag to be flown at the Bell Center, 16820 N. 99th Ave., in Sun City, to fly below the United States of America flag.
National POW/MIA Recognition Day is Sept. 18 and according to the Defense Personnel Accounting Agency, there remain 1,586 Americans unaccounted for from the Vietnam War as of Aug. 28, 2020.
DAR chapter regent Twila Lobitz presented the flag to RCSC staff member Marcia Johnson at the Sun City RCSC corporate offices. Because of the COVID-19 virus and the Arizona governor’s mandate, the Sun City chapter was unable to attend the regular RCSC monthly meeting to present the flag to the RCSC board. Honorary chapter regent Shirley Staggs, chapter treasurer Rita Sattazhan and chapter chaplain Patricia Alicki were also present for the presentation.
