Concert series begins Sept. 4 at Advent Episcopal Church

Trumpeter Dan Reed and pianist Jim Whitaker will open the 2022-23 concert series at Advent Episcopal Church, 13150 Spanish Garden Drive, with a free community event 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 4.

Reed started playing the trumpet at age 9. After graduating from Indiana University with a degree in music performance, he went on the road traveling in the United States and Canada. He then spent two years with Carnival Cruise Lines, and 18 years as music director for Princess Cruise Lines. Reed moved to Arizona in 2011 and has played as the featured musician in numerous bands. He also coaches bands and gives private lessons.

The concert series will feature Colour Blinde Sunday, Oct. 2; The Many Sounds of 9 Sunday, Nov. 6; The Phoenician Tenors Sunday, Dec. 4; West Side Tremble Clefs Sunday, Jan. 8, 2023; The Valley Singers Sunday, Feb. 5; The Salty Dawgs Sunday, March 5; Desert Winds Steel Orchestra Sunday, April 2; and the Surprise Pops Bands Sunday. May 7.

Tickets for the December performance will be $10. The other concerts will accept a free will offering. All concerts begin at 2 p.m.
