It was a fun, inspiring and reflective day Feb. 19 in Beardsley Park, when 140 participants and visitors gathered for the 11th American Cancer Society Relay for Life.
Joseline Molina gave a speech telling of having kidney cancer when she was four years old. Survivors did a Victory Lap around the track and dinner was provided by Sardella’s pizza and wings. Nancy Light talked about the importance of the day followed by a silent walk to view the hundreds of lit luminaria honoring those who have lost, won or fighting cancer right now.
Most importantly, it was a day to raise funds to support cancer research and those patients in need. Many came out to support the cause, buy raffle tickets, donate money and enjoy the day.
Peoria Nissan, Parks & Sons, Sun Canyon Bank, Home Instead, Bob’s Variety, Carrie’s Healing Café, the Sun City West Foundation, the KSCW broadcast club and the Recreation Centers of Sun City West helped make this event possible.
