The Sonora Chapter of Colonial Dames 17th Century met April 23 at Grandview Terrace for their last meeting before the summer break. There was a presentation by Danna Koelling, “An Army Wife: Martha Summerhayes.” Summerhayes lived from 1844 to 1926 and endured many hardships as she followed her husband’s military career across the United States, with memorable stops in Arizona. This meeting also marked the changing of officers for the coming two-year term. The newly installed officers are Pamela Miller, president; Judith Hageman, chaplain; Lillian Schauer, treasurer; Jean Hacker, registrar, Patricia Amado, recording secretary; and Terrie Hevern, historian. Sonora Chapter meetings will resume in October.
